Insurer Thrives In Sunnier Climes

Suncorp-Metway, the nation's third-largest general insurer, yesterday followed the announcement of record profits by promising a market-beating performance next year, despite tougher lending and insurance conditions. Mr Mulcahy reported a 61 per cent increase in net profit to a record $618 million for the year to June 30 and a final dividend of 40 ? a share, up from 30 ? for the June half of 2003.
